My fear is not that i had to help but how much my wife will be caught in btw. After the 3rd BIL case, she angry with herself already.. & Few yrs back, her nephew sick need operation, her mum ask us to help; i refused as i saw the 4th BIL rides a new bike.. They are very poor at recognising needs n wants.. Luckily my wife got what i meant never help.. Hopefully slowly she recognise all the patterns the BIL n sisters gives. For now she still naive..OJT in progress..haha

Previously if the reason is valid, i will help what i can but now with commitment coming no liao.. Bared minimal...if like what u say life n death matters must really see how she herself into debt... Gamblng is a big NO!

Reading this forum helps alot.. Some exp bro are more extreme while some more lax.. But very fruitful reading here daily.. Hahaha
Some sharing: i make it a pt that if u borrow u must have valid reasons; for parents, i only give during cny or when my bx goes back.

Even our wedding there, i set a agreed budget n screen thru thr receipts & angpows so i know how much the parents keep the surpluses. After the wedding they used the money for renovating hse (which i think is fine and the renovating not too much) i help top up abit as the house so called will belong to my bx (she's the youngest)

Then come expanding their padi field. This is one i very angry with n i made known. They planned thinking i will help even my bx dun know. I set conditions: I demand the red book under my bx's name n i dun made monthly contributions since they be earning more. My philosophy is 'letting them have means to fish rather than i feed them. Thats why i help the 3rd bil setup biz eventually. So after past 'emergencies' now my cost centres from 4 to maybe 2 ( parents and her married eldest sister). I am mentally prepared for these 'emergencies', we cant avoid but its how we managed them. ;)
