HCM City named in the world’s top 10 dynamic cities
==========================================

VietNamNet Bridge - The US Magazine Business Week has named 10 cities which will play an important role in helping their countries develop. Of this, Ho Chi Minh City ranked fourth, following Cebu (the Philippines), and Beijing and Shanghai (China).

As the world economic crisis worsens, international corporations and organizations are increasingly moving both their capital and their workforces to not only the most-effective urban destinations, but also ones with a young and skilled population who are willing to work for cheap wages, and who will also provide quality commodities production and services.

Business Week ranked HCMC at the fourth because of its emerging information-technology and product development sectors, its very large reserve of low wage young human resources and high-quality educational establishments.

FPT, IBM and Luxoft Group were listed as outstanding service providers, while HCMC National University and the HCMC Technique Teaching University were honored in the description of HCMC in the magazine.

The fifth to tenth cities listed by Business Week were Krakow (Poland), Kolkata (India), Cairo (Egypt), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Shenzhen (China).

Almost all cities listed by Business Week have the advantage of young and skillful workers, and all are places where English is widely as second language.

if can get extension, that will be another 360 plus one way ticket, could be another $100... i am sure, food wise? i see coffeeship selling vietnam food, our prawn noodles, $3, their pho what is like $5 plus here and there, not cheap la. I experienced before.

in this case, spot charter of the vessels is much cheaper than time charter :D

Cabbies, play fair and spare the nation’s blushes’

When I wanted to go from Tan Son Nhat airport to my home in District 8 last November, a taxi driver asked for VND200,000 (US$11.47).

Cabbies pricing their trips beyond the meter seems to be a phenomenon only in Vietnam. It sullies the atmosphere at the airport, where things are supposed to be clear and bright.

This has been happening in Vietnam for many years and no one knows when it will stop.

Many Viet Kieu (overseas Vietnamese) and foreigners have been astonished with the practice, making them feel they are at a market where they have to bargain.

At international airports in China, Thailand, Malaysia or Singapore, people can choose from among many means of public transport.

In Vietnam, a taxi is their only choice if they don’t want to sit inconveniently on motorbikes.

Maybe that’s the cause of the taxi rip-off.

In other countries, cabbies are rarely picky about long or short journeys.

There is such thing as fair play that many taxi drivers at the Tan Son Nhat Airport seem to lack, giving a bad name to the airport.

As customers, we should insist on metered trips to help improve the airport taxi environment. We should even be ready to accept some discomfort and travel home by other means till the cabbies change their ways.

I’d also like to tell Tan Son Nhat Airport officials and cab drivers that the airport is like the first face of a nation, and whether it’s welcoming or not depends on your attitude and professionalism.

Not all gals look for long term meal ticket.
Just kana one who really need money to pay for rent.

Got to know this gal in M51, bring her out sightseeing and dinner for 4 days. Feel that she kana KC liao. Thought will makan her soon, but somehow, her sisters brian-washed her and she wanna stop seeing me. :(

Her sisters called me to ask for money to pay rent but i rejected. Thier perception is 'kg co tien, kg yeu dc'. BO THAY!!

Now this gal always say 'e sap ve vn roi, e phai kiem tien ve vn, chi cua e kg cho e di choi voi a roi'

Had this arguement/negotiation with them. The sisters ask me to bring this gal to hotel at $100/hr if want to see her.
I agreed and negotiated "$100 di ks 2ti, e phai lam cho a ra 2lan"
but later they rejected. "A nghi $100 anh nhieu qua ha voi toi $100 chi la so nho."
so i eductaed them this "A kg nghi $100 la nhieu. Nhung $100 dc tim gai vn di ks roi. $50, $80 cung co gai muon di. E hieu kg?"

They think their chim made of gold.
