Bro HB,

I think for them, the rent for a decent place to stay in HCM would already cost S$200.

ya, last friday when I was there at Golden Mile, they were still displaying the old rates. But when I was ready to give them the old rates, $80 for remitting $1k, the counter girl told me: No need so much, Sir. $20 only.

She told me they are yet to update the displayed charges on their counter.

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

Just called their so-called HQ at Lucky Plaza (Tel: 6336 2000). The one answered my calls still quoting the old rates. Yes,,, they are very very blur.

After I told them my "life" experience last Friday at Golden Mile. She went to check again and came back with an apology.

Yes, they are having special promotion now for remitting $$ to Vietnam now and the new charges are as follow:

S$1 to S$1000 is $20
S$1001 to S$2580 is $30
S$2581 to S$30,000 is $50

Hope the info is useful. ;)

oops, me scared leh bro. What history i have? same as Uncle HCM or Uncle LKY? hehehe Actually i also no vietnamese consultant or anything near to that. Just that i had a good time in HCMC when i was stationed there and i got to know quite a number of locals when most singaporeans were still mixing around mostly with fellow singaporeans then. I always had this problem. When i was studying in the UK, i hardly mix around with singaporeans also :D

Inflation is around 11% this year for the whole country. But most businesses agree that inflation in HCMC is around 15% to 20%. Prices of most goods have risen drastically. I will agree that S$300 will be a good and resonable amount for your gal to live in HCMC. Most of the province gals who works in HCMC normally rent sub-standard housing. As long as they have a mattress to sleep on and there's a toilet in the house / room, they will be alright. Most of these gals stay around District 8 n District BT, as rentals in these districts are cheaper. Most of the time, they will also share the room with one or two other gals. So rental per month plus water + electricity will be around 300,000VND to 500,000VND. Don't expect your gals to be staying in apts like your HDB 3,4 or 5 room flats or even pte apts. The rooms they rent will be very much worse off than what you will expect.

Me no viet consultant la bro. Make me pai seh only . :o
