Many bros are very much learning Tieng Viet, in order to better communicate with their Ba Xa. Yes, this is the right thing to do and will lay a common language for both of you to communicate. But after a few years of marriage with a vietnamese spouse and having to stay in both Saigon and Singapore, there's a few pointers i will like to share with bros:

(1) If you are planning to bring yr Ba Xa to Singapore, it will be to her advantage that she learns to speak either Mandarin or English. Not just those basic, but to be able to speak quite well so that most people can understand her. This will enable her to move around in Singapore freely and even to be able to work. If yr ba xa cannot communicate with others here in Singapore, then she will feel lonely and will think of going back to Vietnam. When i first met my wife, my wife speaks simple mandarin. But after a few years with me, she is able to speak above average mandarin and this has enabled her to move around singapore freely. Speaking in English or mandarin is also more appropriate if you and yr ba xa plans to have children next time. Educate your child in singapore's common language is beneficial for your children to grow up in singapore

(2) Knowing Tieng Viet is good but it doesn't mean you know the vietnamese culture well. More work has to be done to understand the vietnamese culture and the way they think and react to situations. This will take quite some years and finding out more from yr ba xa or even her relatives. Vietnamese spouse reacts very differently in situations. For example, if you are having problems with her family and she knows it also, she will prefer that you keep quiet and not talk about it. Even to the extend that you want to discuss with her, she will still refuse to talk about it. :( And there are much much more differences.

bros, let your viet ba xas look up to you and listen to you rather than you listen to her and let her dominate yr every move. Mutual respect is tyhe best but if staying in Singapore is what you guys have chosen, then its better that you handle most household affairs than she handles. :D You know Singapore best, if she handles daily household affairs in vietnamese way, then your household will be chaotic .....

No lah, just trying to explain to bro singviet that I didn't like a lot of gals, but only like one gal a lot. Maybe wat I wrote earlier was a bit misleading too. Actual sentence should be "boi vi yeu mot nguoi rat nhieu, so di dau rat nhieu".

Thks to the bro who up my points, can u kindly pm me who u r, thks...
