The thing with tieng viet is that, like Singlish, they also have their lah, lor, leh...

Sometimes, the "vay", "nha", "nhe" act as their lah/lor/leh and have no meaning. I tend to ignore when I see them.

For example, "xin loi nha" => sorry lah... (a bit sa3 jiao1 voice)

Your message...

I (girl) miss you chu (?), you (guy) want see me (girl) or not?

The only time I see chu is when they are referring to their boss i.e. ong chu (male boss), ba chu (female boss or boss wife).

Ok, just checked my dictionary...

chu also can mean:

1. affectionate appellation and address used with little boys
2. form of address and appellation used with young men

I suggest that next time you can tease her a little bit..

Woke up by my girl who just went back HCMC last night. Had her daughter calling me "pa pa".. don't know should be happy or scared. :eek:

Yes, nha also means home. As said before, same word in TV can means different thing when without the symbol. I thought your girl will add the symbol on top of the wordings? That was the case in your previous messages... Or was it different girl? ha ha....

hmm... actually is another girl. the previous 1 will sometime use the symbol on it which is really easy for me.

ive been using the vdict but without the symbol i can only guess. try and error thing

Of course you should be happy. Last night, one of the girl I knew long time ago called me from her home in Cau Mau (the southern tip of VN), and told me that her mom wants to talk to me. I said no, but her mom already took over the phone. Then, her mom asked me 1. if I can go to Cau Mau to visit her? 2. Do I love her daughter? and if yes, how much? 3. Can I marry her daughter because she will turn 20 soon. :( Toi buon qua.

Yes, trial and error. Problem with VDict is sometime they give you the same word with different symbol so you can check each and every one. But, sometimes, it just give you the one it "think" you want. Very pek chek...

Alternative? Those long hair dictionary roaming the streets lor. Sometimes, I will just approach a random one and ask her to help translate. Or if you go V pub (which I think you do), most waitresses are VBs anyway. They will help. Those at M51 downstairs at all VBs. They help if you ask nicely.
