The hotel name sound eerily close to hotel name that I usually stays (A & Em Hotel). Wonder if it's the same hotel.

The last time I was there (2 weeks ago), I noticed there were more ang mos in D1 area than the previous trips.

Same Hotel.
But how come it sounds eerily? :confused:

More tourists going to Vietnam, HCM because Thailand is out of the radar for the past one month and now maybe longer due to their unrest...some of the tourists are flashing too much jewelleries and cash to the locals which are easy target for crimes...:)

My advice is leave your jewelleries, expensive watches at home and dun carry too much cash with you...:)

I thought it might be a different hotel as my vietnamese proficiency is close to zero.

I was wondering why they had suddenly installed safes in each room the last time I was there. But frankly speaking even with safes, if the robbers were to charge into the room, I also lan lan.

BTW, there are 4 hotels under this chain of hotels. A&EM 1 ~ 4. My guess is that the hotel that was hit is one of the ones facing Ly Tu Trong. No wonder they were offering rooms at USD18 two weeks ago, which is approximately half of the rate they usually charge.

The other area I had stayed was in Pham Ngu Lao but after one of my friend got robbed in that area, we decided not to stay in that area as that area seemed to be a bit rowdier (No doubt rates there are cheaper as the area is also known as backpackers' area)
