Price wise not much difference. Just that in VN, u can only take loan up to 60% of car pricr and loan tenture is 3 years. So people who can buy car in vietnam are really the rich ones. As for scooters, they are not cheap either. there are a few main catergories of bikes in VN. Made in japan, made in China and made in vietnam. made in japan honda scooters cost around US$4000 to US$9000, depends on the model. And these sccoters are just 150cc. But of course, law have been lifted and importers can import bikes of higher cc from this year onwards.

I never thought that properties in VN is expensive...hhmmm.
What i know of is a rental of a shop space at D5 is S$300/mth, rental of 2 storey house (for buiness on lvl1 and accomdation at lvl2) is S$800/mth.

Scooters should only cost S$500- S$4000 ( told by alot of viet gals). US$9000 is really off the scale already... with this amount i can get very high cc sport bike here.

Honda Dylan or SH both 150cc will cost you US$6000 and US$7200. May be your girl thinking of a SYM 120cc that will still cost you US$2000. Even a China make 100cc will cost you US$400, and don't think you want to be see on in HCMC. May be in Village ok.

bro, i don't know how u derived your figures. rental at D5 for S$300? maybe a run down little shop in a back alley. But US$300 is already too cheap for D5 already. 2 storey house at S$800 a month, that's possible, but should be a run down one again in a back alley. As for scooters, S$500 can only buy u a made in china lowest grade bike. As for made in japan bikes, they are never cheap. For example, i spent US$1000 to buy a 10 year old yamaha majesty sccoter last time. But if u want made in china, then its cheap la. S$500 to S$600 can get liao. I seriously do not know how u got your numbers. maybe u need to stay in Vn for some time to really know the market there.

Bro, if you can listen to the viet working girls, then u can also listen to the fish monger in Vietnam. the viet working gals don't listen to news nor watch news, and is not at all concerned about what is happening around them. TV is only for drama series. So please filter what u hear from them about vietnam, they are incorrect 50% of the time.

Bro, for scooters i hear people say only.. for shop rental, i dare to confirm that its S$300 for a shop in front of a busy street at D5. My bro rented it in Jan to start his business. Was S$250, but my bro install aircon which the landlorad say nosiy and disturb her, so increase the cost abit. See his decor and shop face... looks nice..

No offense bro. But to any singaporean who has been to HCM City for just a few times, any street in the city will look busy to him. Maybe let us know the street name. Or the next possible thing i can think of is your brother renting just the front part of the house. The best deal i was given so far in HCM for the past few years was 4 million VND (S$400) on CMT8 street in Q3, near to the Nguyen thi minh khai and CMT8 junction. but that shop quite run down, although its stand alone, not attached to any house of the owner. that is already my wife (local vietnamese) dealing with the landlord. if i deal with landlord, he sure quote me 8 million at least :D

Bro, normal 30 days visa is that u need to exit the country after 30 days. Normally, if you stay for 30 days and exit for 3 days then come back again for 30 days, it will be difficult for you to stay on the next time u return. immigration can refuse entry . A business visa can ensure that u have mulitple entry into the country for the stated period of time, say 6 mths or 1 year. You can also stay on for more than 30 days without returning to singapore.

As for an agent who speaks english, u can try www.izproperty.com This company is started by an ang moh (british) who has stayed in HCM for the past 8 years. Staffs are vietnamese , but can speak english well. Please note that engaging agent there is different from singapore. We normally just pay agent 300KVND and ask them to bring us view the place. The commission will be payable by landlord. :D

Bro, u can go to the customs department website to take a look. Different taxes for different products. www.customs.gov.vn
