I read the question of how much to marry a viet wife and I find it funny.

Those who wants to marry Viet wife, dun be lazy, use a bit of thinking, do some researches before asking how much is the cost. No one here can tell u the exact sum.

Having a wedding dinner with 10 tables with top range menu in Sheraton is much more expensive than having 100 tables with local food in village.

So the question is how comfortable you can spend. If your bank has unlimited money then get 100 tables in Sheraton Saigon, invite all relatives n friends n provide transportation. If your money is limited, then discuss with your wife to be.... tell her the truth. I seriously doubt, she will force u to get loan to have a grand wedding dinner. If her parents insist and because of face then you are in trouble. You are marrying their daughter and you become their tools for money.

I dun see the point of having a grand wedding and burden yourself. Do your sum right, wedding dinner, photo shoots and a lot of others which need money, end of the day, everyone is happy. :D

In HCMC, I have seen wedding dinner only 2 tables(one for bride's family and the other for bridegroom's family) held at bridegroom's house. 1 million VND still got change.:D

Don't have to be so worked up, Bro. Be it marrying a local or foreign wife, many people did their homework and asking others for opinons in a forum is one of them.

I believe people are smart enough to know that marriage is a life-long affair and not a one-night event, so everyone is mature enough that they don't get into financial trouble just because of a wedding. No point painting a nice picture to your wife-to-be knowing that when she finds out about your true financial problems, hell could break loose.

So far my gf's side has not ask for much and they are considering just having a dinner at her parents' house inviting relatives and friends over.

I agree, Bro. Marriage is but not the wedding. Often the whole family plus friends will tend to get involved.:p

As for her to be a citizen, I don't see any benefits in doing so in the near future.

I am not worked up, I just want ppl to ask sensible question. No doubt forum is where u ask and share info, but a lot of ppl asked stupid question or dun bother to read up or research. Guess this is the way SG are brought up, asking is always easier.

A single statement question like, "how much is the wedding dinner in Vietnam?"
The answer will be USD100 to USD1million wedding dinner.

A similar question, "How do I get lay in Vietnam?". What do you expect the answer to be???

Anyway, getting marry in Vietnam, dun have to be expensive. Spend within limit then everyone is happy.

Actually, all these are very simply answered. Just buy Bro naemlo a drink and then pick his mind. Or simply read all the posts in this thread or just follow this thread then sure all answers are available.

Whether a question asked is sensible or not it depends on individual's perspective. Just as same as the replies given, one has to filter out if someone is truly being helpful or not.

Even if one has did their research and homework, who are we to say that they cannot and should not post questions about it?

If one can't stand the questions that were asked, please skip the post then. That, everyone will be happy.:D
