My galfriend was NOT asked to go office even though she declared as prohibited from entering Sillypore before.

Officer just look at passport, check their system and don't even ask question. :)

Hope this is not a one time kind of things...
Actually during her last trip here, an officer comment to me that her record is clean now :)

Bro KT ....

Then it will be good for her and you. Guess you have a peace of mind now ... at least not worrying too much on her entry.

Cheers Pal ..

Any bros have fixed deposit in Vietnam Dong? Which bank offers the highest interest rate? I opened a bank account at Sacombank, the interest rate is around 11%. I also heard some banks offer 12.5% for 1 year fixed deposit.

I want to use the interest to help a girl there. :p

In fact, I am thinking fixed deposit with a 1-month term and auto-renewal. The monthly interest will go to her account so she has stable monthly income. This is more like a long-term plan for me.

I want to deposit SGD 20,000. If the annual interest rate is 12%, then every month she will get SGD 200 automatically. Close to her current monthly salary.

Which bank is offering this 1 mth fixed deposit and interest of abt 12% per mth? Assume u put in 10000, so per mth I can withdraw the 12% interest while maintaining the 10000 in the bank?

I dun mind looking at it. Currently my SCB is giving me only annual 6% for my VND current account and 0% for my USD current account.

12% is the annual interest. It means that every month you get 1% interest on the principal. My girl told me farmer's bank offers 12% interest, but I haven't confirmed that yet.

It is different. If the bank pays her every month. She will feel more secure. Because she knows the money is there and she doesn't need to look your face.

Who says foreigner cannot own bank account? I just opened one last month at SCB in HCM. I only showed them my passport. I also gave them foreign address and foreign phone number. It is OK. :)

Have you taken into account the depreciation of the currency. You could end up with a smaller capital . As an example if they devalue the currency by another 15 percent you would end up with SGD17,000 :)

Yes. I also considered it. But maybe VND appreciates 15% then I end up with a capital gain of SGD 3000 :D I know this is very unlikely since VND has a tendency to depreciate in the past 30 years, but who knows? Anything can happen, right?
