Hihi. I am planning to hold my tradditional wedding in HCM city soon. Now trying to feature out what needs to be done etc. Any ideas is it cheaper to buy the Si Dian Jin in singapore or HCM city?? Normally whats the "Market rate" for the Si Dian Jin in Vietnam for a normal family?? Any things that i need to be aware of??
Thats quite a lot of questions and hopefully u guys can advice me on that. Thks in avance and wish u guys a happy Chinese New Year!! Huat Har!!

It is difficult to sort it out yourself coz Customs and Cultures are different .... There are many many things u need to take note :D You have to get your BX to help you out ....

Singapore Gold is different for Vietnamese Gold .....

I think I mentioned before about gold in Vietnam. When I got married in Vn, I thought I was cheated as the gold is not shiny, looks old. Singapore gold is shiny n bright. I finally got a chance to ask a goldsmith in Singapore, I was told that Vietnam gold is pure, that's why not shiny. Shiny gold in Singapore is the result of adding many other materials, thus not pure.

Yeah ... you are quite right ....

They have a few categories of GOLD selling in Vietnam .... if I not wrong is 3 or 4 types ...

The most expensive is the 9999 Pure Gold ..... thus it is very soft ....

the wedding ring my MIL brought for me is pure Gold ... not sure how much she brought ... but then the ring was sold off for 3million dong after 4mths ...

Yar, my Bx's family will help me to settle most of it. The problem is the Si dian jin. I got to go HCM city and select the gold personally. My Bx "volunteered" herself to offer her help. Well as all gals do, they will select the biggest ornaments they lay their eyes on. I just need some ballpark figure for the si dian jin budget deem acceptable for a normal vietnam family so that i do not have to stress my wallet to make everyone happy.

i still remember that my wife asked me for the Si Dian Jin during marriage. Her mum wants at least 1.5K USD for that. Being ignorant, i ask her to go buy, giving her 1.5k USD. My wife came back, told me not enough, need another 1k USD. After that, i saw the gold necklace and braclet they bought like gang leader type, super thick. They want to showoff. After the wedding, the mother kept the gold and i think she sold it off and kept the money for herself. Also asked me for another 7 to 8K USD for building a house in province. After that, then i realised the house only cost around 4k USD, she kept the other half for herself. Treat me like ATM. This is one of the reason why i hate my MIL so much.... sicko :D

Gong Xi Fa Cai shysaint. I do not have a Vietnamese BX or girl friend or wife. I just noticed that Oriental looking PRs living and working a long time in Singapore sound very Singaporean. It was hard telling them apart from locals just listening to them.

Any one heard of foreign wives threatening to bring their children, who's fathers are Singaporean men, back to their home countries when they have big quarrels with their husbands? The wives also say they will never bring their children back to Singapore. I hope it never happens to any one.

During Marriage there will be 2 portion of Gold Wedding. My Side and my MIL side.

My mum brought my wife Si Dian Jin ... My MIL use the downry I gave her to buy my wife Si Dian Jin also ....

You are right , my MIL also brought the thick Gold necklace like for cow to wear type ... :p

But then after the custome wedding, she sold it off .... :eek: only kept the Si Dian Jin brought by my mum ...

Hi shysaint. Tell them not to sell the gold so fast. Gold prices are going throught the roof and then some more! But Vietnamese people see short term gain only.
