Tried taking the pics but the images suck as usual... Hence decided to take it from the original source.. it's much clearer.... it's from the same Wat as the Jatukam I'm wearing on my neck...

Sorry for the late reply as I stayed up late to watch "The Necromancer"... Thai movie about amulets, Kumanthongs and black magic... pretty nice show... Thailand is indeed a mystical land, full of interesting beliefs... I didn't know that they have traditional Taoist rituals with mediums piercing their bodies with sharp knives and swords, together with displays of Chinese's deities like Guan Gong, the Black and White Wu Chang etc... Their black magic is kinda scary though... wonder how true it is...

Perhaps I'll go to the library later to see if I can find books on amulets or related topics... hehe.... :D

Hi bro, u are right. Is off upper paya lebar rd. Now under reno, so hv to park outside. The temple a bit smaller compared to Palelai at Bedok. But here seems more 'friendly' to me. Every now n then will pay a visit to the temple when free.

actually, it is very common in phuket. the September vegetarian feastive. u can do a search and im sure u can find a lot of scary pic, much more hardcare than the mediums in sg.

another famous is also the sak yant feastive at Wat Bang Pra. i have seen it in tv before. damn amazing...

any bros here every seen this 2 feastives in person? can give more details?

Yes yes... I think this was the festival being mentioned in the show.. seems like one of the major ones... you're right... damn amazing... interestingly hardcore... :eek:

Just read from the papers that there is a 10 days exhibition for Thai Amulets at Tiong Bahru Plaza on the 28 Oct... Interested bros might wanna take a look...:)

Sorry for the late reply as I just reached home from work...
Read from WanBao (dated 14 Oct ) that the exhibition is 28th this month at Tiong Bahru Plaza.. The exhibition will last 10 days.. It is not stated whether entrance fee will be collected or not though... Hopefully it'll be a fruitful trip for many... It is also a good chance for us to see each other...:D

Guys who are interested in these Thai Amulets, there is a Collector by the name of Mr Woon, he has a museum for such stuff which is open daily from 10am-5pm located at 233 Cantonment Road. Tel 63720189

I visited it once and its really an eye opener for me as well as a learning experience. Best to visit during the weekends as he is there personally and would be able to enlighten you on your queries.
