How to buy fake or spoilt one??? The point is that they want to be among the first in the little village to have these "luxury" items and they actually have to "demo" if from time to time...

Their neighbours will come and see and then:

#1 they have to close the doors and turn on the air-con and show them how heavenly it is... but then say a different thing.. such as "wah, u think this is good ah??? I blow air-con for so many years liao and now i know its no good for my skin.. makes it very dry and throat too... that is why we seldom turn it on nowadays.."

#2 They have to turn on their BIG BIG Tivi and show the neighbours the BIG PICTURE.. and then watch a tennis game on it..then they have to say "wah, u think this is good ah... I have been watching tennis game and i really prefer the small 12" Tivi a lot more... on this big screen i watch until my neck tired from turning and turing to follow the ball from left to right of screen!!!"

And when these people buy a fridge... i tell u.. the joke just began...

#1 the power in the village, somehow not enough for the icebox to make ice.
#2 these village people start putting all kinds of things into the fridge, from unopened canned food, to biscuits, to forks, spoons and knife....

When these village people moves to stay in the city, renting a condominium, they end up behaving the same way... put all kinds of things in fridge and everyday, 1 hour before meal, still goes to the nearest market to buy a bit of vege and meat to come back to cook. In the house, main door never close, sit in sitting room smoke that long long pipe, talk at the top of their voice and stopping occasionally only to spit on the floor of their very own living room. And of course that tea set on the tea table is washed only 2 times a year. but used everyday by everyone at home.

For the kitchen it is also just in case of accidental fire, the fire would be less likely to spread to other parts of the house. The kitchen, shower and toilet are usually on a lower level of the house too. Just my guesses. Although we in industrialised Singapore think it is odd. I have never visited Vietnam.

Hi Batty,

You are right. Definitely the shower/toilet is separated for hygiene purpose. Can imagine if they put that toilet part next to kitchen :)

FYI, the house is very small size, bamboo fence, front windows with no glass, just a decorated iron bars with curtain. Floor is uneven laid bricks. The house sectioned into 2 part, front part where the TV and dining table, back part is where the kitchen and bed. That's it. Walk about 5 to 6 metres from the back door to toilet. The house close to padi (rice) field.

Possible 4 hours by bike to main part of Can Tho (just after the second hanging bridge).

You would not believe the condition of the house, it's in the middle of no where. Trust me, nothing to show off there :).

hey dude,u have a gd gf and u shld treasure her.

trust me,i know wat condition u r talking abt...i myself have stayed at the village for a month b4...and on some days when the water is being cut off,i actually use the river water to shower.

Vietnamese staying in the villagers are already used to those kind of conditions,i feel that u shldn't try to "contribute" if unnecessary...sometimes its better to be "blind and mute"....hope u understands wat i mean.

just my 2 vnd opinion....:)
