There are golden rules in cheonging everywhere:

1. read the SBF forum and ask brother recommendation.
2. go to 4-5 star hotel KTV if you are alone or don't know the city well.
3. Ask hotel concierge to recommend the biggest KTV or sauna in town.
4. bring enough cash and 1 credit card. Leave the rest in the room safe.
5. Your mama already told you not to speak to stranger, specially pretty gal.

Tried Cassy from ebonkie.... Sibei tua liaps. Took up the massage and HJ deal. Damage is 700+100(taxi) rmb.

Real life look is about 68% of the pics online. Why I say so is she doesn't look the age as advertised.

Massage skills is piano type. But gal is very friendly and willing to please in other way. One Only thing I dislike is got slight BO. Maybe should have showered with her.

:D

Their motives are the money and not after one's life, but one must also understand life is cheap in China, comes with a value and it is a very Big Country with a different culture, therefore sometimes reaction can be extreme or out of control.

Local Authorities/Gong An etc. are very lazy cum inefficient (but not all, some are really good), and they received tonnes of such complaints everyday, so you can bet that they will push your case around until Christmas arrived!

Do not and never use the SGP way of thinking to apply to the Chinese Context, it does not work here in China.

Most important everyone is safe and soundly left Ah Tiong Land. Be careful everywhere we go, not only in China, and even with recommendations from Bros here, also be careful (sorry to say, but no offence meant, some are also out to make some bucks out of fellow citizens), therefore have your own judgement, spend within your budget, and come and leave safely.

非常正确!!! Very good advise by you. Never never 吊以轻心

In Shanghai, never be led by touts, strangers, guys or gals, to unfamiliar ktv joints. This is a very dangerous act as you don't know what u are getting into.

The guy on the street may look like a nice gentleman. He may tell u that the place is very cheap, the gals are looked like models and can bring back hotel for just 400 RMB. Whatever u do, don't listen to his BS and just walk away.

Bro lky lky, thank u for sharing in this thread. 60,000 RMB for ktv is a lot of money. But at least your friends came back with no physical harm. That's the most important thing when abroad, and that is to stay safe!!

definitely the payment under extortion will be disputed

just upz your points
thanks for sharing this thread, it is a good wake up call
usually my advice for those who are long term in china best is
1)open a local china bank account and deposit enough rmb for the duration of your trip for expenses-food,sex,etc
2)never carry much cash around esp at night in china
3) try to buy a local china sim card for short term use
in case of emergency can call 110- police
or call the nearest spore embassy duty hotline if your life is really under threat

Also, in some joints where one buys LD (lady's drink), do beware that when the bill comes, usually many more drinks are added into your bill. I usually do not expose this so much if the cost are still acceptable and we do not want to make a scene (but not because we are afraid) since we are there to happy and not argue. Such joints are unethical but not dangerous, no gangsters around, and they do not overdo such approach, so we take it as a 'good' tipping to them.

!

Yes, not only China, in Athens also. I have a friend who kena such nonsense as well. Paid in cash... Cannot make any police report on the drinks.

Just play or party with care ... be it you are tourist , local or even "Ground Head Snake " . Never under estimate what will happen and take all things for granted .

Have fun !

This sillyporean is not an isolated case. I have heard of cases of such as well. Asked to follow to see electronics, when he refused to buy, they get rough.

What happened is lucky this guy had a meeting with an official in gong an, he called the official and the official talked to the guy in the shop. He got released and was given a scolding from the gong ann friend, NEVER TRUST THESE PEOPLE WHO TIRED TO BRING YOU FOR A SHOW.
