the definition of 'comfortable' is different in the eyes of different people....how much a month do u define as comfortable?i have Vietnamese friends who lives comfortably with a monthly salary of 1k usd and S'porean friend who still cant make ends meet with 3k usd.

u want to start ur own business here or working for someone else?

if u dunno much abt Vietnam, then i suggest u better do some homework first before deciding to come here and stay for good.

i agree with you totally. It really depends on what's his definition of comfortable. How much per month will give you a comfy life? For example, to have simple roof on top and a simple car like Nissan Sunny is comfy to some, but not to others. Same applies in VN, some consider having a bike to move around and a simple house in Q8 or even Q12 as comfy, while some prefer to have a new car and a grand house in Q1.

But i do not know why many singaporeans have the idea that one can make BIG MONEY in Vietnam. It takes many years of hard work, lots of learning, lot of luck to be `successful' in business. But how do you define successful? USD10K a month may seem successful to some but to others, its small amount. I will say doing business in VN is not easy. Money doesn't fall from the sky in VN. ;)

bro, i am not too sure of your case, but let me try to offer you some possible causes for your present situation.

(1) Are you holding on to a job that's stable and with a pay that's able to provide her and your child an average lifestyle?

(2) Do you own the current apartment that you stay in? or are you staying with your parents?

(3) have she told you long ago that she doesn't want to stay with your parents and want you to move out to stay on yr own? (if you are presently staying with your parents)

Viet gals, like any other lady, will expect their husband to provide them with a certain level of comfy and security. They will expect that their husband be able to own a house (even if its mortgaged) and provide them with an average lifestyle. They also do not like to stay with in-laws, if possible. We , as husbands, need to work hard to provide all these basic necessities to our wife. i feel that if she's able to say `sorry', its a good sign as she knows she is in the wrong. But rising tensions between you and her is not bringing enuff goodwill to both parties. Money is not everything, but in this world, you cannot do without money. Its a sensitive issue, but we cannot hide from it. It can bring a couple together but can also break them up. Sad to say, but its true. :(

why need to save up and relocate to vietnam for good? just look out for a job that will post u to viet nam. they give quite good offer because many people don't want to be an expat in viet nam.
