seriously,up to now,i have never bring not more than 1k when i go back with her.even her mom,i only give $200 to $300 for ang bao, another $200 plus for expenses over there for those few days

cos i let my wife settle her mum expenses, better let her stress than i stress myself cos must let them know money is hard to earn in sg so she always told her mum not to anyhow spend money:D

Husband must bring money back to pay back before they return to Singapore. So always warn your spouse about gambling. I always tell my wife not to tell me its small money, many `small money' will snowball to `big money' . I also tell her, if she gamble away a lot of money, i will not pay for her. i do not allow gambling.

yep yep...i was shocked when i saw my ex #2 gamble with her friends...started small but ending betting 1 mil per hand...:p

I was very afraid of her then...luckily we chia tay after that...(.)(.)

if ur wife's family is at HCMC then still not so bad...if its at those villages in other province then "head big" lor...

usually all relatives stay very near to each other in the village.u can easily expect the figures to be abt 50 person.and bcos ur wife has been away for a period of time and furthermore has been "promoted" to a Viet Kieu....it is very common for her to give ang pow to almost everyone that she knows...and it is a common practice for family members or friends to gather in big groups for drinks and makan during Tet...and bcos ur wife holds a "higher status" now, usually everybody expects her to pay....:(

beers are also more expensive in Vietnam during Tet unlike Sillypore where beers normally have very big discount in supermarkets during CNY.

if ur wife is back to celebrate Tet only like once every 3-5 years then still not too bad...if back every year then u will have to save additional $300 per month in future liao....:)

Now bros know why govt need you to financially stable if you want to marry a foreign spouse. When you marry local, chances are the wife will work too to support the family. But most foreign spouses cannot work due to language and education barriers, this is made worse when they want to return home frequently.

tks bros for all the advice....
not wanting her to go back is becoz little oc still young and bringing little one go is not easy for her alone and also afraid spend too much money wait the family think we having gd life here...
and also becoz i would not be able to take such a long leave to go back with her...

but the thing is that ever since she married to me for 2years and 3mths, she never once open her mouth to ask for money to be sent back home and she has never gone back to her hometown which is near central VN (tks bro jackbl for highlighting to me on Sat)...

thats why i having hard time to not let her go back during TET and also the $3k thingy..

$3k - 51 million dong is really alot...

i think the face thingy is quite true as she compares with my frens wife cost both from same hometown...
