Will I have to adopt him thru MCYS or I shall get him a long term pass. Bros, please advise if you have similar experiences as mine. Thanks.

Nothing great about our story. We have been courting for 2 years before officially getting married last year. We got another kid on the way but it is the elder son issue which I need to address first. Actually I need to admit that I am lazy and has been dragging my feet on this but now that he is staying in Singapore for his education. I need to hasten.

Elder Son - 6 years old (Having elementary class in Vietnam but not fluent in English and Chinese as my mother-in-law speaks neither language.)
Elder Son - Only mother is registered as parent and no biological father name is stated in his birth certificate.

If my wife, his mum is staying in Singapore as a long term social pass. What type of permit shall I apply? A long term social pass, a student pass or a dependent pass (not sure how to go about applying for this).

Lastly, sorry for long message but I really need the bros here who have experience this before.

If your wife and MIL intends to study here and are excepted into a school ... You can Apply Student Pass for both of them ...

YOur Step Son ... he can only come is as visitor ... extend his visa and you as sponsor .. if approved can stay for additional month ..

Your wife , u can difintely apply for LTVP and PR ... MIL ... not sure if can for now , maybe when your wife is PR, she can apply for your MIL to come here stay long term ..

Dependant Pass ... I dun think they qualify ... and also not for us ....

Like I said .. read the ICA website on each of the respectively concern you have .. not sure CALL ICA ....

Yes like TS said, have to start from vietnam first.

For singapore side, can start off by asking either ICA or MCYS. if no choice, last resort is to seek legal advice.

U should starts from Singapore by calling ICA ... check what documents u need . then u go Vietnam prepare ..

No HEad No Tail ... what documents can you prepare in Vietnam ...

Remember u are coming to Singapore NOT going to Vietnam ....

How to call ICA when the child is not related to Bro Stepson at all? Bro Stepson should go Vietnam to process the adoption of the son first, before he can be `related' to him and further process any possible passes in Singapore. Bro StepSon is related to the son's mother as spouse, but not to the son at the moment as his birth cert has no FATHER at the moment.

Yes BRO SV .. I 100% fully agree on this point ....

for us we know .. for him .. he dosen't know ... so besides that documents he did to obtain, it's still best for him to ICA and ask the necessary documents needed for submission ..

going headless here and there serve no purpose for him ... if he cannot help himself on that .. no body will ...

unless someone is able to spelt out all the necesssary steps and documents and spoon fed him to proceed ..
