Yes, start scouting for someone even before you fly over. I played the "first time visiting Thailand, would love to have a local show me around and accompany me for a good time" card and got lucky.

It's always helpful to know a bit of basic Thai, but generally speaking Thai people nowadays are much better in English, and also for messaging they use Google Translate a lot so don't worry that they won't understand you in English.

For me, I would rather meet the girl in person rather than go through TF as it is nothing like meeting them face to face and then decide if you want to be with them or not.

If you like drinking or going to bars, you can always go to bars like Checkin bar, Why Not bars or Cindy's and others where you can sit and drink with ladyboys there and then decide if you want to take her out ST or LT.
