Maybe a personal tiff .. (as they say in PH .. ) motive unkown ..
For those who don't know PH, if the cops can't find a motive, they will not bother to pursue the suspects .. and on top of it, a family member must file a complaint and affidavit for police to act on it .. or it will be written off as "wrong place, wrong time" issue ..
