Actually a lot of maids, especially recent ones, are educated, some teacher, some nursing graduate, become maid, because back home either no job, or for job, pay very very low, or they are terminated on contract every year

Even super market job like that, not more than six months

you will be surprised, a lot of pinays doing more and more local jobs, unlike before - reception, admin, accounts, and with the 100 million population, sever unemployment, they may take over, unless their country get better -

Many year ago, you see pinay as nurse or maid. Now even bank teller at some bank, (HSBC, POSB), sales in up market shop, and all have pinays

Don't forget more and more hotel have Filipino staff as front desk onwards !
