My solution if I am running solo in Batam...
...50k rupiah,2 way trip from ferry terminal to hotel and then send me off on my last day in Batam. No need to bargain,no need to 'rush'. Once a rushing mode hits me,it may spoil my holiday mood (especially when its the last few hours of my trip). I enjoy taking my time but i prefer to be in control of my own situation. My trump card is my silver membership, in case it triggers my "all else fail" plug "it" is going to send me back to any ferry terminal for free,just like a dual-layer fail-safe...hehehe...
Only a few times I could remember myself taking taxi from outside Formosa hotel. 1st time was when I am with a friend, who don't mind paying for it (he pays for it anyway) when we were leaving for Harbour Bay mall, 2nd time was during CNY 2015 when I didn't stay in Formosa hotel and the taxi driver from Formosa drives me back to Goodway hotel for free. 3rd time was when I have not enough seat-space on my pre-booked taxi and have to grab an extra taxi to Jaya Dado for dinner. (we couldnt afford to make 2 to-and-fro trips with a single taxi due to time constraint and its distance)

There was twice that i run some 'trust-test' on 2 taxi drivers too,hehehe...both times they drive me to Harbour Bay for free. (i have my reason/s for doing that)
I don't like surprises (especially the not-so-good ones),hence I often plan things in advance. Knowing certain circumstances due to a certain action that may likely lead to a situation in advance, i can often find a solution (or 2) ahead of the time before it actually occur. (Hehehe...i kiasu ma)
In order not to be held ransom by even more future surprises, i choose to travel via Harbour Bay more...I am much often, on the right timing and using taxi is one of my ways when i need to 'buy time',hehehe...if EVERY transport means were to 'dies off' from Harbour Bay ferry terminal,my worst scenario is to walk to hotel,hehehe...can i do that for the other ferry terminals?
Its not "if" it will happen,but "when"...
...and history has taught me well, it has happened just not too long ago (and this dont just "happen" once nor twice before in my 33 trips).
(i only visit Batam once or twice a month,safety and assurance should be my priority)

Can always change big 100k rupiah notes to small ones when i change my money from money changer/s. 2k and 5k rupiah notes is very important for me. It has the amazing power to make the world of Batam a happier place.
