There are no specified money changers to go to,i will usually recommend my friends to ask at least 3 nearby money changer shops around the same walking area in Batam,and i would avoid money changers that are very close to the arrival hall of ferry terminals and airport (and those stationed outside shopping malls entrance too).
(if there are no more than 2 money changers nearby within a one/two min walk away,i dont go to it at all; competition benefits the customer)
Variance in their exchange rate are very marginal between money changers in Batam,unless we are talking about those near to arrival halls of airport or ferry terminals. Regular money changers in Singapore definitely wont give as good as in Batam's.
My above said 2 paragraphs were for non-CNY situation. For CNY (1st few days), i would do the direct opposite of what i said above.
