It should be not more stable, actually.
However, yes battery usage is an issue. I keep two chargers always connected in my room. When I enter, I connect the router to one and the phone to the other.
However, even with continuous usage (I surf, chat and play Pokemon Go, which generates LOTS of traffic) my wifi router takes more than 10 hours to discharge the battery.
