A few comments:
1) it’s true, there’s actually a very wide definition for STDs. Especially with virus mutation, it’s often very hard to draw the line. For example, HFMD is actually a form of herpes. Yet children get it.... presumably from their parents... who got it from... herpes, like HPV, is present in a dormant form in the majority of humans, and it’s still not entirely clear what conditions cause the virus to mutate and become STDs. However, such diseases, including syphilis and gonorrhea, can now be easily cured with modern medicines so the fear of contracting there is a bit overblown. The exception is HIV of course, but the chances of you getting it from BBBJ/CIM is literally non-existent.
2) this episode, like many others in the past, often results in a knee jerk reaction and many of the MLs have seen their earnings suffer in the past two days - especially those who offer BBBJ/CIM services. They are not happy, to say the least. As one ML pointed out to me, it’s the Singaporean clients who have demanded that they offer BBBJ/CIM, and now that we are all running scared of STDs we have the cheek to call the MLs dirty. It’s our own dirty habits that have caused this, nothing more. Don’t be surprised if the MLs start to reject BBBJ services moving forward, as some of them have already been saying to me.
3) this is probably going to blow over for yet another crisis in a few weeks. We gossip worse than a gaggle of grandmothers.
