Anyone watched last night 10.30pm "introductory" show on HCM? Theres this singaporean Mr Tor giving his experience:

- Viet likes gold alot cos gold is more "secure and safe". There can use kilograms of gold to buy and pay for their house. It will be best to give gold as gifts. Goldsmith exchange rate higher than bank.
This is true to a large extend. Viet loves gold. And during last year when Gold prices rose a lot, Viet gold prices was much higher than the world gold prices. I remember my wife was so tempted to sell off some of her gold as she realised that the prices was 40% higher than her purchase price some time back.

- Viet like to drink kopi and if order a cup, must tell them less sugar and milk. Or else very sweet and the milk itself may be more than kopi.
Never experienced the milk more than coffee thingy. Yes, it can be very very sweet but not so sweet till milk more than coffee. I always ask for more milk but never a day in those few years there that milk was more than coffee

- Certain food stuffs cost almost same as singapore. Rice of good grade cost $1 per kg. Dried shrimps $44 per kg.
This is correct. Certain food stuff price around the same as singapore. Actually not just food, a lot of other things also.

- Houses in viet can be no wider than 4m and around 20m long with unlimited height. Therefore their houses can be of a few storeys high but quite narrow and long....

- Parking of motorbike cost around 30cents and the ticket must not be lost. Or else have to show prove the bike belong to u.
Sometimes it may cost u more, depending on whether u are foreigner or local and the size of yr bike. My Yamaha Majesty used to cost me 3000VND to park at Benh Thanh market but my wife's sym atila bike just cost her 2000 VND to park at the same place. Once i lost my ticket and they also allow me to take my bike after i bribe them 20,000VND. Last time i saw them charge a SWM US$1 to park his rented bike there
