I want to be even more clear:
1) There is NO REASON to rush buying masks
2) Doing that is not only useless, but it also damages the community, because it subtracts resources to those who really need masks (including professional health care personnel and sick people, or people suspected to be sick)
3) You may legitimately doubt of what some Mr. Black Page writes on a forum, but this is what the US CDC Atlanta states in its FAQs:
CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory viruses, including 2019-nCoV. A facemask should be used by people who have been exposed to 2019-nCoV and are showing symptoms of 2019 novel coronavirus. This is to protect others from the risk of getting infected.
