People think their life is terrible until they realise that there are others who have gone through far worse.
I have a kiwi friend who is on his forth wife.
His first wife and the love of his life died of cancer.
His second wife took him to the cleaners and he lost his house.
His third wife committed suicide.
He is now in his forth.
Never seen him depressed but the inner turmoil is often not visible.

I lost my 2nd wife from cancer. Our marriage was not long. Just into our 1st year, one day while we were in NZ, she collapsed and was warded. She had an aggressive brain cancer and there was no cure. I said my goodbyes to her as she passed on while I hold onto her hand.
I will be honest and say I was thinking of ending my life many times. Especially when I lost my 2nd wife. No amount of money I have can bring me happiness. I could have sex with lots of women or drink myself silly till I passed out. But in the end, it won't bring me any happiness.
As what bro rusteddude did, I went running for my life and ran till I can't stop breathing. I went to seek counselling. It's something that I thought won't work but it does. Having a 3rd party or another person listen to you really help. So please everyone, don't treat depression as something small. It can end your life.
