Both are 2 different hotels. 
Harmony suite and Swiss Inn penuin were good hotels.
For Da Vienna Hotel, their better rooms starts from their Grand Deluxe room type onward (which is much often out of stock). 
You should try Trinity Hotel one day. Now they offered free drop off at some Batam major Mall and Harbour Bay ferry terminal (selected timing). No pick up tho. You will like their balcony (low price, clean room too).  |

Nagoya Hill looks a very goood choice. I went there to attend a conference (ahaha!) years ago, but I did not see the sleeping rooms.
I would not stay in Penuin, because I like my routine of walking to Nagoya Hill in the morning for coffee.
I feel that it will be not easy to find an alternative to Formosa. The reason why I chose it the first time, was what I read in comments on a web site: most guests from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, zero chance to meet a bule. Indeed, in so many years I never saw any other Western tourist in Formosa.
The only other one, as far as I know, has been that idiot who secretely filmed the massage lady and my friend Rosa in his room and then sold the videos online on his web site.

I am curious about the housekeeper. Actually I was used to meet one of the housekeepers there, who during the day is nothing fancy or special to notice, but at night with the make up and all can really become a stunning lady. She is/was really a nice person, but as far as I know she has somee boyfriend now.
