This bamboo telegraph thingy is from the older generation.... youngsters dun even know what that is.
In the days where there was no internet or mobile phones and landlines were only available to the rich & elite of society..... the common people communicated by using the bamboo telegraph network.
With the introduction of computers, handphones & electronic devices the bamboo telegraph eventually died out.
But it was revived back into use by gambling syndicates mainly in the PI and INA to avoid surveillance by the police.... and it became popular again amongst bookies and gamblers.
Now bookies in many countries prefer using this system rather than electronic devices which are vulnerable to being hacked by the authorities. HK, Macau, PI, INA, Mudland, LOS, Cambodia, Laos, VN all have bamboo telegraph networks and some parts of Europe are also starting to use it especially those places with large numbers of Asians.
It may be an old and primitive system.... but it is very effective in keeping secrets within the house and not vulnerable to modern surveillance technology.
