I woke up and looked out at the balcony. It was bright and sunny outside. There was a clock on the bedside table and I looked at the time: 11:37am.
Riley was still asleep, head resting on my shoulder. Quietly and carefully I moved her head to the pillow, got out of the bed, walked into her living room, out into the corridor and back to my apartment. I switched off the TV, then proceeded to pick up Riley’s clothes in the private lift lobby, and headed back to my room where I looked for my phone.
A couple of missed calls my in laws. I did a quick call to them who told me my daughter was fine and that she slept well. Kendra was probably still in the air as I have not heard from her yet. “Why didn’t you wake me up?” Riley yawned as she stepped into the shower with me. I turned around and we hugged and kissed as the water from the shower ran down our bodies.
