Re: Vietnam - HCM

Hi all, I'm a greenhorn here and so please bear with me. I did read through all the postings from the very 1st page but I still have some doubts. I had visited HCM b4. But at that time, I was unaware of this forum and that actually HCM is able to provide so much fun. (My misconception of a communist country) Truthfully, I was even unaware of little HCM in S'pore or ktvs, etc until my friend intro me to all this fun as he find me to be too innocent. I almost freaked out on my 1st trip to ktv. After knowing this forum and reading through all the FRs provided, only then did I realised that I had been a 'monk' on my 1st trip. Even Cambodia has her 'fun' to offer. How navie I was then. (FYI, my trip to this region was to HCM, Hanoi, PP @ Cambodia and Mynmmar. All the potential fun that I had missed out then. So stupid of me. Haha)
If there are no hiccups, I am intending to make my 2nd trip to HCM on Jan 2008. And, this time, I'm not intending to miss out on all this fun. Hence, I really need to find a girl-friendly and affordable hotel. I need more info because I had a friend who wanted to go with me but he usually ask me a lots of qns therefore I need to do my homework first. I also wouldnt want to screw up his 1st trip. I understand that being a communist country, there is no such thing as girl-friendly hotel and that high-class hotels are almost definitely a no-go. In VN, unmarried couple are not allowed to stay together. (hope I'm right on this aspect) However, I just wanna know which hotel has a better chance of closing 1 eye. Hope you all can help me. Very sorry for the trouble.

Hmm, these hotel ok? Which one would be highly recommended? Any special booking procedure? Is Lien Ha in a centralised location? Can recomfirm if Lien Ha number is +84-08-837-5581? Sometimes, the info through google might not be the most updated.
1)LIEN HA Hotel @ Bui Vien St
2)Thien Xuan Hotel
108 Le Thanh ton Street, Ben Thanh Ward, Dist 1
3)Hai Long Hotel
56-58 Pham Hong Thai.
District 1. (Opposite New World Hotel)
4)Tan My Dinh Hotel
288 Le Thanh Ton st., Ben Thanh Ward,,Dist.1 , HCMC
Tel: (84.8) 823 0356 - Fax: (84.8) 823 0360

For 2, 3, 4, I got from bro Reaper's post. (in case anyone is looking for it; pg378)

Sunflower Hotel seemed to be the top choice. Hence, I had e-mailed them a week or so ago but they still had not get back to me. Am I suppose to call them to book as they dont accept e-mail enquires?

In post 6370 (pg425), bro Jackbl mentioned that he stayed in mini-hotel at abt S$20 per day but one of his friend's gal told him that there are better places. Hmm bro Jackbl, what is that mini-hotel that you stayed in and what is the other so-called better hotel?

What's difference btw mini-hotel and normal hotel?

I hope that bros here dont find me too troublesome and long-winded for asking tons of qns. I sincerely hope that you all can help me. I understand that there are monthly trip by bros here to HCM. If somehow my next trip coincide with yours, mind if I tag along? If willing, I can pass you my hp no.

Anyway, thanks in advance. Have a nice day.

Rgds,
Thom
