Caravelle wins Best Hotel Award for 2007
=============================
Ho Chi Minh City’s downtown landmark Caravelle Hotel announced over the weekend that it had won the top spot in Vietnam Tourism association’s (VTA) rankings of the top hotels in Vietnam for 2007.
VTA commended the hotel for its impressive accomplishments across a range of categories, including average room rate, total revenues, employee wages and average occupancy rate, among other criteria.
“In 2007, after we took fourth place in this same competition, we really buckled down on total quality improvement,” said John Gardner, General Manager of the Caravelle, at a press conference in the city.
“We set our sights to improve across the board so we could win more satisfied guests and have additional returning guests. This award is a testament to our efforts.”
Earlier this year, as the Caravelle prepared to celebrate the tenth birthday of its dramatic 1998 refurbishment, the hotel started work on a number of initiatives to ensure its continuing vibrancy and sensitivity to worldwide trends.
Foremost among these was a commitment to a set of green initiatives that would reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint, Gardner said.
The hotel is also planning for major interior overhaul and has commissioned a compilation of its history to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year.
