Jetstar launches new online payment service

Tickets on Jetstar Pacific flights can now be booked and paid for online using debit and automated teller machine (ATM) cards.
The budget airline told Saigon Times the new payment method became available on July 5. Passengers with ATM Connection 24 cards issued by the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) can now pay for their tickets online at

Customers need to register with Vietcombank for an online payment code before booking on the Jetstar website.
Vietcombank has issued more than three million ATM cards, with about 300,000 cards registered for online payments, according to the air carrier.
Jetstar customers have been able to pay for tickets online with Visa, MasterCard, JCB and AMEX since 2007 and online bookings currently account for one-fifth of the airline’s ticket sales.
Customers can also pay for Jetstar tickets at Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) branches.
Jetstar Pacific Chief Commercial Officer Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh said the airline was working with its other banks to enable more ATM cards to be used to pay for tickets online.
The budget carrier is offering one-way domestic tickets from VND250,000 (US$14) until 12 p.m. on July 10 for customers booking online with ATM and credit cards, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Jetstar Pacific, the second largest carrier in Vietnam, carried 28 percent more passengers in the first half of this year, year-on-year.
The carrier currently operates some 42 flights a day to domestic destinations, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, the central cities of Danang and Nha Trang and northern Hai Phong City.
