Have been reading this thread with great interest.

Helped a friend to compose an sms, not sure if it's right. Appreciate any advice/input:

"Anh nghi em khong co hoi anh that. neu em co ong xa/ban trai khong sao. anh hy vong em anh co the ban"

From my understanding:

"i think u never tell me truth. if u have husband/bf nevermind. i hope u me can be friends"

This thread is uber interesting for me. From what started as a desire to better communicate with bx, it becomes a challenge/motivation to want to know the language/culture better out of interest.
