just for the first 3 days bro. so by friday, 99% should be open. but operating hours will be shortened. But most FLs are still out in full force. they need the dough for the indonesian phenomenon known as "pulang kampung". in fact, business is brisk for them cuz most outlets are closed. so everyone turns to them.
i ask one FL shouldn't business be badly affected during ramadhan. she said no, most of her customers are Chinese anyways. wahahahahahaha.
i ask another FL whether she will observe puasa and ramadhan. she said she wants to. but her mom just asked her for money to "pulang kampung" with 2 of her brothers. so she needs to earn the money to be able to buy them tickets to their kampung. of course pulang kampung also means she has to be able to buy presents and gifts for her relatives in the kampung. she has to show that she did not leave her kampung for nothing. and that she has more or less made it big in jakarta. confirm have to spend a few million rupiahs.
quite sad really. but i dun think anyone can do anything about it. even in prosperous singapore or japan, things like this happens. in the end, it's all about the mullah. or as my employees like to say in indonesia: UUD - Ujung Ujungnya Duit.
