end of the day, it is about managing expectations.
most of this people being uneducated or have not travel aboard think the world of people beyond their shores. Look at the news they have on national TV, mainly domestic with 1 international news .....
naturally because of this, they tend to think that foreigners are rich, what I did was a round of education to them that all is relative to where we are from. we may earn more but cost of living is higher ....always let them know that you are not as rich as they think but then some idiots in the name of love give their wife everything...
I once had a friend whom despite my advice to take a while before getting married, rush into a marriage with a vb after 3 months. He was 40 plus and she was only 23. He told she love him like mad.
After staying in sillypore for a few months, she went back on the pretext that she missed her family and never came back. everytime he ask her back, there are untold problems and he needs him to send money to help. Once he told me that the wife's brother in prison and every month have to give @SGD500 as bribes...this is a complete utter bullshit from my sources, maybe SGD1000 to secure one complete release ......
The story ended with her telling him she had cancer. My friend borrowed heavily from loan-sharks to send her money like mad ....it ended with him helping the loan-shark and ending up in prison for it ....
the last I heard was her wife now had some properties in vn thanks to his kind donation.......
this is why my advice is "my money is my money", never let them know the true extent of your wealth......if you can trust them on matters of money then even pigs can fly ......
