Pique got the opportunities to play in first-11 while at Barca, so he could developed further. If he remained in Utd, if Vidic and Ferdinard are not injured then he has no chance to play. He will be 2nd fiddle to them.
Smalling and Jones are promising young chaps. As for Evans, I think he is still not that reliable during big games, more often making stupid mistakes and get himself sent off. But I can see he is improving.
For permanent replacements for Vidic-Ferdinand pairing, my take will be Smalling-Jones.
