How much do HIV checkups cost? By checkups I mean testing for the viral load level and white blood cell count.

Also, how frequently should patients go for this kind of checkup?

Stop asking stupid qns over here.. There are so many threads on HIV testing and the cost involved as well as location of the HIV test centre in SBF...

By "checkups", I do not mean tests to verify if a person is HIV positive. I mean checks to determine the health status of already infected people.

I do not believe that this question has been posted before. If it has been, paste the related links here and I'll have nothing to say.

Please also refrain from making derogatory remarks about others based on your unproven assumptions. Your remarks from the quoted post do cast some serious doubts on both your intellect and literary ability.

Wats so wrong abt his questions? And I do think CDC may entertain him. I think the one with the low IQ seems to be U from ur answers. Its people like u tat need to be educated.

AIDS infected people did not ask to be infected. It can be just a one nite of mistake tat people get infected...why must u brand them like this?

And by him asking those questions does it mean he is infected? NO!! I think he may just want to know more to maybe even help a fren.

If it was not u, I apologise for making the assumption. I was led to believe tat it was u becoz of the comments quoted in the zap. And it so happens tat it was also by 2 pts which is ur POWER level.

Since u have replied me, I will take ur word for it. If u are keen to know how I was misled to think it was u, pls PM me.

Its not so much the pts...but more the principle behind it.

Don't judge we are not God. DSC clinic or AFA is in the better position to give advice. The cost for HIV treatment is about $1000. Singapore have no subsidy for HIV patient. Usually doctor will not test for viral load as it is expensive but measure your CD4 level. A measurement of your immune system.

On a regular basis, your doctor will draw blood to measure the number of functioning CD4 cells. The higher the number the stronger your immune system. People without HIV infection have about 700 to 1000 CD4 cells in a drop of blood the size of a pea. HIV infected people are considered to have "normal" CD4 counts if the number is above 500 CD4 cells in that same size drop of blood.

If the number of CD4 cells in that drop of blood ever drops below 200 CD4 cells, you are classified as having AIDS. Simply put, experts have found that when your CD4 count drops below 200, your body's immune system is no longer strong enough to prevent illness and infection. Some of the most serious of these illnesses and infections are said to be AIDS defining.
