Brand new start to a brand new day. I am going to start slow and steady. And please guys, this is a fantasy story. None of this is actually real, so please use your imagination. I am a dreamer, still is. Anyway, please let me know your comments so i can improve..

Chapter 1-Me and my kampung

How I miss that place. I have just celebrated my 13th birthday and finally I’ve finished my first day in secondary school. In fact, I really enjoyed wearing a pair of dark green pants opposing to the blue ones that I used to wear. Day 1 was only the orientation and all of us were sorted according to our final results during our primary school. At least my hard work paid off as I got into the best class in the school.

Now, I am standing at the bus stop waiting for the heap of metal to come get me and everybody else home safely. My school was situated along a trunk road on the outskirts of Kuantan, Pahang. FYI, it’s in Malaysia. Finally, I see a green coloured bus coming from far. I could barely make out the writings on the signboard of the bus as it was all blurred out due to the ‘age’ of the bus. If my memory served me right, the bus company only had 2 busses running up and down the same road for the past 15 years. Anyway, finally I see Sungai Lembing as the bus got nearer. Everybody rushed over to the bus and didn’t really bother to line up.

Anyway, the bus was filled with students from the school and some teachers. The 40 km journey home should be fine. Most of the people on the bus were village kids just like me. Never have I seen the city before. As the old bus chugged down the road, people are getting down in odd places and they disappear through the plantation to get to their own home. The bus was almost empty by the time I got near to my place. A half an hour journey lasted about 2 hours due to the amount of people getting down everywhere. That was when I noticed her.

She was a fair Chinese looking girl about my age and obviously from the same school. It seemed that she was quietly sitting in front of me alone. I have never seen her before. She didn’t really have much of a body to describe but she has a face that nobody can actually forget. I didn’t know how to describe it but it was flawless. She has sharp eyes, full lips and her hair was tied into a pony tail. There was something about her that actually kept my eyes glued on her. Could it be that I am now feeling it? I could’ve never thought about the word ‘puberty’. I was told by my elder sister about this before she left for university in the city.

I got off the bus and this mysterious stranger came down as well. That was when we went our separate ways, without a smile, without even eye contact. Well, I might as well start walking. About 20 minutes later, I see the familiar signboard at the gate of my orchard. I fumbled for the keys and got the lock opened. I walked into the orchard and head to the rather small house at the end of it. At the doorstep, I grabbed the packed lunch ‘basket’ left by the caterer or rather the caretaker of the orchard. Yes, I live alone in this place. My parents died in a fire when I was 5. Only me and my sister survived and were cared for by my Auntie. Before she migrated to New Zealand, she gave standing instructions to every party concerned to take care of our needs including food. My dad did leave me with the house and orchard and a large sum of money only to be given to me by the trustee as monthly allowance. Anyway, for my sister she was given assurance that her financial needs were taken care off until she’s at least 50.

I took my bath, cold bath next to the well, which was only covered on 4 sides by zinc and rather, it was open top. Anyway, we only fixed a real ‘toilet’ with flush and everything else about 4 years back otherwise, I’ll be forced to take a dump in the standalone toilet every day.

I lived a very simple life and was really happy that all my necessities were met. I did not really worry much on anything at all while I was there. It was about 9 when I got to bed and I dozed off thinking of the sweet looking girl in the bus and every single question that I know I cannot answer popped up on her.

Just another post before lunch. Well, i have been watching too much Sci fi movies. LOL. Anyway, i will let the mystery unfold itself.

Chapter 2-the stone

I woke up and it was barely 5 in the morning. I didn’t know why but it was really a daily routine. However, the thing I feared most everyday was my trip to the well. It was the cold that I couldn’t stand. Anyhow, I took my bath there and got ready for school. As usual, I boarded the bus and sat at my favorite corner. I slept off while waiting for the driver to finish his breakfast.

I was awaken a while later by the dull roar of the bus engine. The bus was nearly full with kids going to the same school as I was. I was trying my best to see if I can spot the mysterious girl. But she was nowhere to be found on the bus. I have kept my bag beside me in the next seat so I can at least be alone for a while. The bus was filled to the brim by now and I think the only seat left was the one beside me. The driver pushed the transmission to the first gear and while his hands reached to close the door, she got up the bus.

The bus started to roll and the girl was walking all the way to the back trying to spot a seat. I guess my luck was a little good today as she sat down beside me after I pulled my bag aside. The whole journey only took about 30 minutes because everybody got up the bus at the same location. However, the entire time we were very quiet. I took my time smelling the aroma of the soap that she uses. There were many first things happening to me that day. For one thing, I had my first hard-on sitting on the bus. It really freaked me out then as I didn’t know what was really happening. No thanks to the lack of education on sex that I received.

Anyway, I really hoped that the journey never ends. I did notice that the girl was acting quite strange. She was sitting straight up and never looked left or right. Just straight ahead. Good things will come to an end and finally the bus came to a stop just opposite our school. As usual, I was the last to get down and I went straight into class after that. Well, even though it’s the second day, we still had to gather for the daily assembly in the hall.

The day went smoothly and I did meet a few guys and girls from my previous school. We talked about the long holiday we had and many other stuffs leading to finally the new mysterious girl. She was sitting alone in her class during recess. Anyway I found out that her name is SooSin. She’s now staying with her uncle and auntie. It looks like she’s a city girl. I do understand how she feels, being in a place that has almost everything and finally to a boring village with almost absolutely nothing. Well, we were simple people and were quite shy when it comes to introducing ourselves to others. We just let her be.

On the bus trip home, the bus was really filled. I walked all the way to the back and SooSin was sitting at her original place this morning and next to her was an empty seat just waiting for me. Anyway, I made sure I get more skin on my face to make it thicker and sat beside her.

Well, if this is going to be my routine for the rest of my school days, I might as well do it. Time to break the ice! “Thank you” I said. She turned to face me, surprised that I can be so bold. In fact, my heart was about to jump out of my chest. Anyway, that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship between SooSin and me. For the next 2 months or so, we meet on the bus every morning and my routine changed a little. I started to walk her back to her place. She didn’t want her auntie or uncle to know that a boy sent her home so every time; we bid our goodbyes near her gate. Anyway, our houses were actually separated by just a hill. This means we were quite close neighbours. However, to get home, I still have to follow the 1 land dirt road for about 10 minutes.

On the way back to my home one day, I saw a very shiny object just sitting by the roadside. When I got nearer, it looked like crystals. The crystal was green in colour and was glowing with a dull green light. It was quite small and it was no bigger than my thumb. As I touched it, it started to glow brighter.
